Random Things about me.
This is a game being played on my Facebook site but I thought I'd post it here since not everyone has a Facebook page.
1. I was born in Rome, NY on Griffis AFB. That base has since been closed but was used as the site for 'Woodstock' like 30 yrs later.
2. I was born with an knot in my upper small intestine, 1 inch below my stomach, it's a 1:1,000,000 type defect. I had surgery at 36 hrs old and again at 3 mths. I have 3' less small intestine than the average adult because of the surgery. I also have an 8" scar across my wasteline that makes my stomach dent in.
3. I graduated Cum Laude from Texas Tech University as valedictorian of my class with a BA of Landscape Architecture. I was the ONLY girl in my class. That's right I beat out those 14 boys!
4. I have polycystic ovarian symdrome. (I'm keeping Kelly's note because is applies to me too) Although I will add that woman need to educated themselves on this disease as it is the #1 infertility disease for women today
5. I am actually a middle child. I had an older sister, Allison, that died at age 4. I follow the personality and career path of a middle child according to 'Birth Order' books that I've read.
6. I don't necessarily LIKE what I do, landscape design. I just happen to be good at it. I really hope to open a little cafe or B&B someday.
7. If you hurt my feelings, I can hold a grudge for a LONG time. It's the cancerian in me, I do not forget or forgive easily.
8. I grew up with an Atari, we never upgraded to Ninetendo so I SUCK at video games and don't understand the addictiveness of them
9. I am an optimist, most of the time.
10. I grew up with my neighbor parents and kids being like family, and in some cases they know more about me than my family
11. I didn't go on a real date until I was 17. What can I say I was a late bloomer.
12. I play in several tennis leagues here in Atlanta, both women's doubles and mixed. I actually enjoy mixed more sometimes. Although I enjoy playing tennis now 10X more than in high school.
13. I have a strong faith in God, although some people might not really guess that.
14. Amaretto on the rocks is my guilty pleasure if I've had a bad day
15. I grind my teeth at night, sometimes so loud I wake up my husband. I get to wear the ubber sexy bite plate, so I 'might' have some teeth at 60.
16. I'm a horrific procrastinator, seriously I could go professional at this.
17. My daughter, Annora 'Nora' was born ON her due date, Oct 20th 2007
18. I grew up on a 200+ acre ranch that didn't have one horse or cow, yet it was in Texas. No one lived there full time, just a weekend place
19. I'm a DAR(Daughter of the American Revolution), my grandmother's Irish family threw tea into the Harbor
20. The only time I've eaten sushi was when I was drunk. I think there's a good reason for that.
21. I read a novel a week, this week it's 'The Mermaid Chair'
22. I play bunco once a month with the neighborhood ladies as some 'me' time.
23. Fertility Friend website and my cyber friends there might quite possibly saved my sanity in the 13 months and countless tests it took to get pregnant.
24. My husband travels 30% of the year and I actually don't mind at all.
25. I missed the score I wanted on the SAT by 10 points and it still irks me.
26. I'm fascinated by sharks but terrified of the ocean. Shark Week on Discovery is always a must.
27. I had horrible motion sickness when I was younger, people were afraid to sit next to me in cars. Luckily, as I've gotten older it's gotten BETTER but has not disappeared.
28. I once told my best guy friend that he had my blessing to date my sister. He looked right at me and said 'But I'll never have what I want'....We were sort of the friends that should have dated but never did.
29. I HATE housework, so much so that I make sure the budget allows for me to have a cleaning lady once a month even though I'm a SAHM.
30. I broke the growth plate in my left ankle in 4th grade playing tennis in the street.
31. My first memory is of Cari, my sister, hitting me on the head with a metal trashcan because I stole a block. I was 4, she was almost 2. That pretty much set the tone for our sister relationship.
32. I'm planning my sister's bachlorette party and find it incredibly stressful. She's a social butterfly and I am not. This makes it hard to "know" about the right entertainment.

Lifetime, man Hater Channel
Or at least that's what it's called if you talk to my husband. I will admit to the fact that, let's say 50%, of the movies are about men mistreating woman. But at the core of a lot of those plotlines, is a woman being strong, refusing to take it, and surviving it. Is that really a bad thing to watch?
There are also a lot of the Hallmark movies that I LOVE. Who could pass up 'Tuesdays with Morrie' or 'The Shoes'...all girls need a good happy cry every now and then right? If you wrap one of these around a medical storyline I'm even more hooked. That's just the previous pre-med major in me absorbed in the diagnosis and terminology.
For a SAHM, that needs a mental break a couple times a week I find the movies, or reruns of Will and Grace a perfect timeout from toddledum....

I punish myself!!!
More adventures in Toddledum.
Nora has taken to liking soap, any kind of soap. Bottled, bar, liquid, detergent, you name it she's got to have it. Problem being she wants to EAT it! So far I've caught her playing in my box of Tide like a sandbox a half dozen times. She's tried to eat it once. Yuck! Not to worry we did call in some advice to the Nana on that one since she's a nurse. No harm done.
Then today I was unloading the dishwasher and all the soap hadn't washed out of the compartment. I turn around to see Nora stick her finger in it and then into her mouth. She then smiled at me and went back for more. The audacity and stubborness of toddlers astounds me some days.
Typically 'punishment' would be washing out the mouth with soap but it's already in her mouth! And she doesn't seem to mind. So now I must find a correct 'no' punishment for soap in the mouth....

Sleep Deprived!
Oh how I want sleep, Rich wants sleep, Nora needs sleep. Although she seems to be functioning better than mom and dad.
This weeks "Fun" Nora has a severely infected left ear. We did not know about this until we took her to the Dr. for a congested cough and low grade fever. The infection was apparently there for a while. Nora actually couldn't keep her balance and was veering into things on Monday morning. More or less her equilibrium was 'drunk' So Rich and I get no parenting awards for this! There are now the endless doses of antibiotics for 10 days.
On TOP of ear infection she has a really bad cold. No amount of Vicks, Benedryl, or other medicines help her. The humidifier runs and runs to no avail. The tissues are plentiful as is the running away from the tissue game.
THEN, just to put the proverbial nail in my coffin she has 3 molars, yes 3 abrupting. Are you kidding me? God is laughing right now, he has to be as I stumble through my day trying to keep my eyes open and patience on high. Nora just starts crying out of no where grabbing at her mouth, as a mom I feel so sorry for her. It must feel like her head is going to explode at times with all this going on inside.
The nights are filled with screaming, the days with tantrums and screaming, and LOTS of cartoons. It is the only way I can keep my sanity right now! She's happy, I get to lay on the couch trying to tank up for the next night.
In other news...she now says 'happy' and 'apple' These are very similar sounding so you have to listen close. Knows where her 'footie' and 'mouth' are.

Found It!
This is an update to the previous post. I figured out how the weight happened! I stopped taking my diuretic right before Xmas, because the prescription ran out! Now that I started taking the pills again I'm losing about a lb. a day. So far 3 lbs gone! I know that eventually it won't be water weight but until then I'll take the water weight going away!
Thanks for the support to everyone that emailed me!
